What a disposable email address is

A disposable email address comes from a service that hands out inboxes on demand, no signup, and deletes them after minutes or hours. Mailinator, Guerrilla Mail, 10 Minute Mail, YOPmail and thousands of smaller clones exist for one purpose: getting past an email gate without giving a real address. The inbox works long enough to click a confirmation link, then it is gone.

For a sender that is the worst kind of address to have. It passes syntax checks, it often passes an SMTP check at the moment of signup, and it bounces or vanishes by the time your first campaign goes out. Disposable addresses inflate signup numbers, poison lead lists, and raise bounce rates, which is what gets a sending domain throttled.

This checker matches the domain against the open-source disposable-email-domains blocklist, refreshed weekly, and walks up parent domains so mail.tempprovider.com is caught by its tempprovider.com entry. It also checks the domain has a mail server at all, because a fair number of throwaway domains simply stop resolving.

Can a disposable address pass an email verifier? expand_more
Sometimes, yes. While the temporary inbox exists the mail server accepts mail for it, so an SMTP check returns deliverable. That is why a verifier should also run a disposable-domain check, which is what Mailsfinder does on every verification, and why this standalone tool exists for quick lookups.
Is Gmail or Outlook disposable? expand_more
No. Free webmail providers are permanent, real inboxes. They are flagged here as free webmail so B2B senders can decide whether to accept them, but they are not throwaway addresses.
What if a real company domain shows as disposable? expand_more
The blocklist is community maintained and occasionally includes a domain that also offers a legitimate service. If you believe a domain is wrongly listed, the project accepts corrections on GitHub, and this tool picks up the change at its next weekly refresh.
Should I block disposable addresses at signup? expand_more
For a free trial or a lead magnet, usually yes: the person is telling you they do not want to hear from you. For a paid checkout, be careful. Some privacy-minded buyers use alias services that look disposable but are permanent. Flag rather than block, and let a human decide on paid accounts.
